Show Description:
“Soul Seeds” is a spiritual exploration of creativity through the concept of mandala. “Mandala” is the ancient Sanskrit word meaning “circle” and can be found all throughout nature and culture. Simple or intricate, the patterns of mandalas are usually revealed as an integrated structure organized around a unifying center. The mandalas of this show are mixed media, with most of them pen & ink. They each represent a meditation, a journey, and an evolution of the soul of an artist captured in a moment in time.
About the Artist:
Dawn Tanis has lived in the Savannah area for 17 years. As a native of Vermont, she grew up in an active family with appreciation for nature, outdoor recreation, travel, and adventure. This provided a strong foundation for her in the many places she has lived. Drawing and creating has always been part of her expression in life, and she has had some formal art training in college. In addition to pen & ink drawings, she also uses layered paper cuts to create images – one of which is part of this show.
Dawn also serves the community as a bodyworker, practicing Structural Integration and Scarwork therapy at Sunrise Healing Arts in Thunderbolt.
